SHARE YOUR CONTACT INFORMATION
LASD uses Classroom Parent as a private directory of contact information for parents, teachers, and staff. Other parents need a way to invite your kid to birthday parties or playdates! It's also nice to see which classmates live nearby for impromptu neighborhood bike ride facilitation. We encourage you to share phone numbers, email addresses, and your home address as well. springer.classroomparent.com

VOLUNTEER
Being involved in your child’s school is one of the most impactful ways you can ensure their academic success. There is a way for every parent to volunteer at lunchtime, with events, in the classroom, and on your own time. Find ways to volunteer in Classroom Parent, Springer’s private parent directory and volunteer management tool. Check out our Volunteer page for more general information. Questions? Email community@springerpta.org.

CONSIDER OPTIONS FOR AFTER SCHOOL & SUMMER CARE EARLY
The years of year-round daycare are over! Get ready for summer camp. There are literally hundreds of camps, and the most in-demand start booking and fill up in January! The aftercares at Springer (Abracadabra or Los Altos Chinese School) usually have a waiting list. Always apply on time. At school alternatives include the daily after school programs which extend your child’s day to about 4pm.
Check out the local summer camps who support Springer!
-
HOST A COMMUNITY PARTY
One of the best parts of the Springer community is the families in it! Get together with friends and host a party for kids, families, or adults. Hosting a simple party is one of the easiest ways to meet other parents and get to know your child’s school friends and classmates. Learn more about Community Parties.

COMMIT TO WALKATHON IN OCTOBER
Even kids who hate exercise love Walkathon and you will grow to love it as much as they do. They will not agree to leave early; they will not want to do anything else instead; and they will pull you around so many laps your Fitbit will not recognize you. Just give up. Agree to love it now. ATTEND THE SPRING PARENT GALA
It may not be mandatory to attend, but it’s corny fun that raises a lot of money for Springer. You will be at Springer for 7-8 years—you might as well make friends with other parents, and this is a great place to do it while also buying your summer vacation package or the chance to make your kid Principal for the Day! Learn more about the Live Auction Gala.

Through your donations, Springer PTA is able to provide all students with their all the supplies needed!
Traditionally, TK & K's first few weeks are half days, so they only need their backpack and a snack for those going home after dismissal. Those who will attend an aftercare program should also pack a lunch.

For TK and Kindergarten: walk your child to their classroom, they will always meet there, and teachers will walk them to assemblies if they are attending. Join us for Wednesday assembly for school announcements, awards presentations, and more!
For all other grades: there are yellow lines marked with room numbers on the blacktop quad in the center of campus. Students line up there every day with their classmates at the first bell and will have a morning assembly, weather permitting. You will be emailed a few days before school begins your specific class assignment. There is also an event each year called Pop ‘n Stop (pop is short for popsicles, provided by the PTA) where you can come to see the posted lists , enjoy a popsicle, talk to after school program representatives, find out more about Springer programs, and your kids can enjoy a Bike Rodeo hosting by the City of Mountain View. Bring your dinner and picnic with our community!
This is a great time to take your student over to see which classroom is theirs and to familiarize yourself with the campus if you have not done so previously.

The best time to start learning about opportunities is at the Back to School events hosted by the PTA at the beginning of school. There will be many parents there to meet and chat with and lots of lists of school activities that require parent help to happen!
You will also receive many emails about PTA meetings and opportunities to volunteer! The spring auction is a big event for fundraising and the October Walkathon is an historic Springer fundraiser all students love.
Back to School Night will give you more information about the various events that will happen for your child’s specific class and volunteering for those.
For more information about volunteering, check out the PTA's volunteering page.
